JAKARTA, October 8th 2025—Komunal continues to make a significant contribution to Indonesia’s economy. The company has partnered with hundreds of Rural Banks (BPR) across the nation to channel financing to tens of thousands of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
To date, Komunal has collaborated with more than 376 BPRs spread across 71 districts/cities in 24 provinces.
Komunal Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hendry Lieviant stated that the company strategically chose to partner with BPRs to boost financial inclusion and access to financing in Indonesia’s tier 2, tier 3, and tier 4 cities.
He noted that financial inclusion and business maturity in these regional areas currently lag behind major metropolitan centers, partly due to slower digital adoption.
“The potential of the regional financial services industry is immense, and economic growth is no longer centralized in metropolitan areas,” Lieviant said. “With the help of digital technology, this gap can be closed, and regional economies can be accelerated.”
The combination of Komunal’s robust technology with the BPRs’ established market access and local insight makes this collaboration highly strategic for expanding financing access outside major cities.
“We see significant room for growth that can be achieved through fintech services,” Lieviant added. “Technology enables the financing business to be more effective, efficient, and reach an even wider market.”
The drive for greater financial inclusion and literacy remains crucial in Indonesia. The 2025 National Financial Literacy and Inclusion Survey (SNLIK), conducted by the OJK and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), reported a financial literacy index of 66.46% and a financial inclusion index of 80.51%. This data highlights the substantial portion of the population that still lacks a comprehensive understanding of, or access to, financial services.
Lieviant emphasized that the Komunal-BPR partnership is strategic because it leverages the complementary strengths of both entities for optimal results. “Komunal has the technology, and the BPRs have the local touch and market access,” he said. “This collaboration is a powerful combination.”
He further noted that mutual trust is a deep-rooted aspect of Indonesian business culture—a factor where the decades-long presence of BPRs in regional financing plays a critical role.
Through the 376 BPR partnerships, Komunal has financed over 11,410 MSMEs. Key metrics show that 98% of this financing targets micro-businesses, with 30% supporting women-owned and -managed enterprises.
Since obtaining its OJK license on June 2, 2021, Komunal has channeled a total of Rp6.42 trillion in MSME financing. Furthermore, MSMEs supported by Komunal’s financing and assistance have reported revenue increases of up to 25%.
Lieviant added that the company continues to drive technological innovation to enhance services and scale the business. Komunal has integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist engineers in operational system programming and to create consumer marketing videos.
“The use of AI for video marketing has yielded up to 90% efficiency in that area. Overall, AI has boosted the company’s operational efficiency by 20% to 30%,” he stated.
Looking ahead, Komunal is developing an AI-powered system to analyze consumer behavior. This will enable the company to release timely and optimal promotional campaigns.
Komunal is one of more than 50 portfolio investments of Skystar Capital, which invests across more than nine sectors, including fintech, edutech, healthtech, proptech, logistics, and web3.
“Skystar Capital has been incredibly supportive since day one. They have been an active sparring partner in executing our bold ideas. It is truly a great advantage for us to partner with Skystar Capital,” Lieviant concluded.
